Training/Development
Training/Development creates and provides
a diverse collection of training for all Pima County Public Works
employees. Some of the programs offered include Wastewater Operator
Certification program, lab safety and procedures training, state
certification classes and testing, CPR and AED classes, SSO classes,
and fall protection inspections. The group has worked hand-in-hand
with other departments to develop and administer training classes
that are designed to resolve some unique situations in Regional Wastewater Reclamation. The training staff has
accommodated staff on off-shifts by providing training on their
schedules, which has cut overtime costs and helped resolve some
employee complaints.
Training/Development has also worked with and provided
training for a wide variety of agencies and departments, such
as the Sheriff’s
Department, Risk Management, Parks and Recreation, Pima Vocational
High School, Pima County Summer Youth Program, Pima Community
College, ADEQ, and the federal prisons. Helping Pima County employees
to become safer, better educated, and able to adapt to future
changes has been the goal of the section since its creation.
The staff at Training/Development hope to fulfill
training expectations in the years to come and help create a
more enjoyable work environment for Pima County staff and departments.
